The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off 2019 Winners
The 2019 show saw Russell Brand, Michelle Keegan, Jess Phillips and Joe Wilkinson take home star baker with some impressive creations.
Russell Brand was crowned Star Baker in the first episode of 2019 thanks to his bizarre showstopper biscuit bake. During the showstopper challenge, the bakers were asked to create a 3D biscuit version of their greatest performance. Brand created an ‘unusual’ design – a expressionist version of the birth of his second daughter which helped him to win the coveted Stand Up to Cancer apron.
Michelle Keegan was crowned star baker in the second episode of 2019 with a ski-themed meringue showstopper. The actress impressed Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with her minty flapjacks in the signature bake round and came first in the technical challenge with her French Horn. Her signature creation was described as faultless and saw her take the winning apron in the tent.
Labour MP Jess Phillips was crowned star baker in the third episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer 2019, beating Johnny Vegas, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Big Narstie to the post. Jess impressed the judges with her honey and lemon shortbread biscuits in the signature bake round and landed first place in the technical challenge for her pork pie. She then made a statement with her self-portrait showstopper cake, iced with the words: “Smash the patriarchy”.
Comedian Joe Wilkinson was crowned the fourth Star Baker of 2019 with a showstopper cake inspired by his own bum. Joe landed first place in all three rounds during the episode, impressing the judges with his gherkin-shaped biscuits in the signature bake round before winning the technical challenge with his “99 per cent perfect” chocolate crumpets.
